Touch Ups & Suitability
Tattoos are permanent, but that doesn’t mean they won’t need some upkeep. Both traditional and fine line tattoos will fade (sometimes fully) but usually slightly over time. Proper technique by the artist and proper after care by the client will help minimize the need for a touch up early on. Most tattoo designs, including both traditional and fine line, will require a touch up at some point, partly because the immune system in the body will slowly and minimally remove the ink placed in the skin. Sun exposure & tanning can also cause the fading of the tattoo.
SPF will give more longevity to the tattoo. You may need a 6-8 week touch-up.
Most people ARE in fact suitable for tattooing, however, if you’re taking Accutane, Monomycin (or any other Tetracycline-related medication), or any other prescription medication for acne, you do not want to get tattooed. Prescription medication for acne can cause skin to be hyper-sensitive.
